Reducing Disparities for Students with SLDs through Assistive Technology

Priscilla Luna’s research seeks to explore how assistive technology can be effectively utilized to reduce the persistent disparities faced by students with specific learning disabilities (SLDs), such as Dyslexia and ADHD, on the Texas-Mexico border. This study involves collaborating with educators in Eagle Pass ISD (EPISD) to gather insights on the needs and challenges in supporting students with SLDs. By engaging teachers through a 25-minute survey, Luna aims to identify better training and resource opportunities to enhance accessibility for these students. The survey results will help shape future professional development initiatives and ensure that assistive technology is implemented in ways that truly support student success.
